One of the main reasons for the widespread use of rock wool insulation is the numerous drawbacks of the traditional fiberglass insulation. You can use it both for commercial buildings, and for your home. Because of its nature, it is an automatic greener material than other products, it is safe to use, and has a relatively higher R-value. Some other names associated with rockwool insulation include mineral wool insulation, slag insulation or stone wool insulation. Some of its benefits include:

This insulation is cost effective and can save you a lot of energy at home. In fact, most of the other energy efficient items in your house will not perform as intended without insulation. They are installed in every part of the envelope, including the floors, ceilings, attics and walls as an acoustical and thermal solution.

Moreover, it keeps your home warmer in winters and cooler in summers, and is the most cost effective way to counter check your energy bills. It reduces noise, and is an additional comfort and quality in your home. Needless to say, the process of installing the insulation material is quick and easy, and it is never too late to add to your home.

It comes with a high r-value, and has been tested to all applicable standards to make sure that the value does not depreciate with time. This material resists settling, and the batt products bounce back after standard compression. As such, the installed thermal performance of the product is maintained over the lifespan. In fact, because of its high density, it allows for higher R-values as compared to open cell foam or cellulose insulation when you install it in wall cavities.

In addition, because of the natural property of the product, this insulation is non combustible, like the fiber glass insulation, and this is the case for the rest of its lifespan. It is not initially meant to fight fire, but it can protect buildings from widespread of fire. It can also increase fire resistance, and reduce heat transfer from reaching high temperatures because it does not support fire through smoke and heat release, or through burning.

The insulation has no mutagenic, toxic or carcinogenic components that can cause damage to the ozone layer, and this makes it greener than other products. It is also rich in natural and renewable raw materials. This means that you can recycle the material during the under construction of the building, when its lifespan is over.

After installing the insulation, chances are high that it will be affected by environmental influences like humidity and rain. This means a rise in the moisture composition of the insulation. Most people like Rook wool insulation because of its high R-value, and because it is resistant to weather affluences.

The other great benefit of Rockwool insulation material is that it is highly resistant to rodent and insects. This is mainly because of the natural composition of the material that does not support insect and rodent settling, as compared to other products such as cellulose and fiberglass insulation. As such, you have no need to worry about any pestering noises in the chimney, or your attic.
