In the early days before the existence of all the big cities and the likes, all areas were rural and everyone was happy living in their respective home town. This was very simple and promoted development as these people were united by a common culture. This however changed with time and people started moving around and mixing cultures. The results of racism in sports media many and quite detrimental.

The naming and development of capital cities and other urban centers made people to opt to leave their homelands in a search for greener pastures. The people that moved had intentions such as looking for better paying jobs, probably a more modernized environment or perhaps better education opportunities and many other reasons.

This created urban centers that were occupied with people of different tribes, races, cultures and many other aspects. There was exactly no unifying factor and yet they were expected to work together for the better goal of national growth and development. These centers are common known as the metropolitan cities. This led to the development of various vices among the people in these communities.

This combination of various cultures helped some people to learn about the other and while some appreciated the cultural ways of the others, majority only despised them for their apparent inferiority. This aspect caused conflict among the people and with time created enmity. This led to the development of certain vices that hindered coexistence of these cultural ways.

Tribalism and tribal favoritism were also popular in these cities. Majority of people preferred to associate with only their tribe and these made sure only those related to them got the major deals and opportunities in the community. This created a situation of conflict and disagreement between the people forcing them to treat each other indifferently on tribal basis.

One of the worst vices to be ever developed in these metropolitan states is that of racism. This is basically the segregation or treatment of people different basing on their particular race or color of their skins. This act this has been condemned harshly by both government and human activists over the years however there are still traces of it especially in the sports media.

Racism became another major problem in these large cities. People favored those of their race more as compared to the people of other races. These same people also liked to work with the people of their own race as well. Sports were also affected by theses habits. The teams in the various sports activities offered players opportunity to showcase their skills basing on the color of the skin.

The lack of unity and togetherness made some people to speak ill of others simply because of the color of their skin. This was especially habitual with the media houses. These used the press for the wrong motive of tarnishing the image of sports men on grounds not concerned with the performance one puts up on the team
