It is best to ask for an internship with local businesses to gain work experience as combined with you degree. Also, this is the best way to make you competitive in the job. You can also accept entry level jobs and learn as much as you can. Most probably, you will be offered a job as a clerk in an office as a good start.

Once you have gained your work experience, you will be assigned to a lot more duties and may supervise others. Earning your certification is another important factor to consider. This is an assurance that you have the knowledge and skills in bookkeeping. In order to qualify you with the job, make sure to gain two years of experience and pass the written exam. You also need to follow the conduct of code ethics.

Though you already have the certification and knowledge, it is still best to keep learning. The more skills you gain, the more you will be sought after by employes for competent bookkeepers. You can also choose to return to school and earn a bachelors degree in accounting.

A lot of bookkeepers find job with accounting firms. They usually handle bookkeeping duties of small firms who don't need a full time bookkeeper on bookkeeping staff. Once you learn and understand all of those factors, it is much easier for you to gain success in this field.
