Homemakers are tasked with cleaning and cooking food for their family daily and they need quality utensils that will stand the test of time. Stainless steel dinner plates are the most preferred in India for 300 years for good reason. Aside from being a culture that has mastered handmade steel utensils that are resistant to tarnishing and rust, India prefers it because it gives a polished look and has a strength that can last for decades.

Steel that resistant to tarnishing and rust was patented and manufactured in the 1900s. It was a great invention during that time because aside from being sturdy, equipment owners need not fuss about corrosion. Fifteen out of 150 grades of stainless steel are most popularly used. When it was first invented, armaments manufacturers benefitted most of all. Now, it has various uses from architecture to transportation and is widespread in the common household.

Given its durability and appearance, stainless steel sets are relatively cheap compared to other materials used for dinnerware. It is worth every penny. In fact, many restaurants have shifted to using them instead of ceramics. Ceramics as a material is heavy and difficult to clean and buss out. Most of all, once dropped, they cannot be used again in most cases.

Some restaurants will choose to use disposable utensils thinking that it is more economical. This is not so. Steel that is resistant to tarnishing and rust, once old, can be sold as metal in junk shops where they are melted and reused. Stainless alloy of iron is more sustainable than paper or Styrofoam utensils.

You can get a 100-piece set depending upon the size of your family; after all, steel that is resistant to tarnishing and rust can last for a long time. There are those, however, are concerned with storage space and cleaning up so many pieces which is why some opt to buy only what is needed. It is good to note that unlike glassware that is unsafe to be nested, stainless steel can be safely nested, thus opening up more shelf space.

Stainless is best for homemakers because of its durability. Most of all, it is safe around children. If a child drops a utensil, you can just pick it up just like nothing happened. To make sure that you get the best, look for the 18/10 mark. This means that the material is composed of 18% chrome and 10% nickel. The lower the numbers, the lower the quality of the utensil.

Chloride is the only household chemical that can damage this bluish-grey alloy of iron that is resistant to tarnishing and rust. This can be found in lemon-scented dishwashing detergents so it is best to avoid them. Other than that, any light detergent can be used to clean these utensils. They are dishwasher safe and clean up in a breeze. There are two things to remember, though, when you put them in the dishwasher. First is not to put them with the silverware and second, do not include them in the hot drying cycle.

Stainless steel is the best material for a dinner set. It is easy to clean and maintain. It is made of a durable material, which is safe around children. Most of all, it is presentable such that guests will be wowed by its classiness and presentation.
