Deciding the feel a room should have is a big aspect of decorating. One of the more popular options for those who love a polished, refined and high end look is fine quality Venetian plaster. A Brooklyn interior wall finishing company employs artisans who can assist their clients in achieving this professionally.

Venetian plaster comes in both a natural form, as well as a synthetic one. They each have many positive aspects but there are a few things that might not suit all needs. Both options will allow the individual achieve a finish that has a luxurious, high end appearance that is both attractive and refined.

The synthetic version is created by mixing acrylic polymers with different fillers like clay or gypsum, and it is easily purchased at most home improvement businesses. It rolls on like paint and provides a highly attractive look at an affordable price. Two drawbacks are that touch ups may be needed to maintain fresh color and the compound is not organic in nature.

Authentic Italian plaster is made using all natural materials such as limestone, marble, quartz, clay, resin and organic pigments. This is available in a variety of compounds and is the consistency of a creamy mud. While technically anyone can apply this product following tutorials, it is typically applied by artisans because of how difficult it is to get the finish just right.

The authentic material has to be applied with a trowel, done in two to three thin coats in order to get that multidimensional look and beautiful translucence. The process is both laborious and time consuming though the results are magnificently worth the effort. It has the added benefits of being both durable and environmentally friendly.

Though having actual Italian plaster applied will cost a bit more, eventually it will more than pay for itself as it lasts indefinitely. The colors will remain the same throughout the years. Interestingly, a compound that is primarily lime based will, over time, return to its natural state of limestone and marble, giving the surface a solid stone appearance.
