A number of people still own and enjoy playing vinyl records and will own a turntable to play them on. Due to the fact that most audio is now mp3 or compact disc, the spare parts for some equipment may be harder to find. If you need to find record player needles, there are a few places where you can find what you need and a little careful research should be done.

A good quality stylus is an important part of a record deck as it picks up the sound from the grooves in the vinyl record and translates it into sound. A badly worn out needle will not produce a good sound and it will also cause damage to records. There are many different types of needle or stylus and it is important that you fit one that is suitable for your deck.

The best place to find what you are looking for is to visit an audio dealer in your local town. Many of these outlets will have a large stock of needles for currently made decks and some old or obsolete models. If they are unable to supply you with a compatible stylus they can often order one in for you from one of the manufacturers.

Another useful place to find a needle is on the net and there are many firms who now trade online that can supply them. You will need a serial number and then start searching through their lists of stock to find a match. If you do not have any numbers, you can email them a detailed photo and they may still be able to supply one. When you buy an item online, you should be aware that shipping charges will be added on to your order.

A web based auction site can also produce good results and you can find many old and rare items listed for sale. Theses listings will usually feature color pictures to allow you to make some careful comparisons. If you are buying an expensive stylus it is highly recommended that you speak with the seller before you start bidding on the item.

Another useful pace to get a hard to find item is at a local junk shop or nearly new store. Many of these shops will have old record payers in their stockroom and you can often find a match for your needles. If you do find a suitable replacement, it is worth buying the whole player in case you need other spares for your equipment in the future.

If the maker of your record deck is still in business then it can be a good idea to buy your replacement needle from them. If they do not make that particular model anymore they will still usually have some spares in stock. They will also tell you where you can look for parts if they are unable to supply a suitable match.

When you can find a stylus that you have been searching for it is worth buying a couple as they will wear out with regular use. When you have had difficulty finding a compatible needle, buying a few extra ones will save you a lot of time in the future. Always ensure that your new needles are stored in their box or are fitted to the your deck to prevent any damage.
