A large number of people still play vinyl records and will own a record player to play them on. Due to the fact that most people now use mp3 or compact discs the spares for older equipment may be hard to find. If you need to find turntable needles there are a few places where you will find what you require and a little research should be done.

The needle on a record player is probably the most important component as it delivers the sound from the vinyl disc. If your stylus is worn, it will produce an inferior sound and will also cause severe damage to your records. Many varieties of needle have been produced over the years and it is important that you find one that will be suitable for your audio equipment.

The best place to find what you are looking for is to visit a specialist dealer in your neighborhood. Many of the retailers will have large stocks of needles for currently made record decks and some older or obsolete models. If they can not supply you with a suitable match they can often order one for you from a manufacturer.

Another good place to find needles is on the internet and there are any retailers who trade online who can supply them. You will usually need a serial number and then search through their list of stock to find a match. If you do not have the number, you can email them a photo and they may be able to help you. When you buy online you should be aware that shipping charges will be added to your order total.

Web based auction sites can also produce some good results and you may find rare items listed for sale. The listings will usually feature a detailed picture to allow you to make some comparisons. If you are buying a rare or expensive stylus it can be worth speaking with the seller before bidding on an item.

Another good pace to get hard to find items is at a junk shop or second hand store. Many of these outlets will have old record payers in their stock and you may find a match for your stylus. When you do find one, it is worth buying the whole player, in case you need any other spares for your deck in the future.

If the manufacturer of your turntable is still in business then it is a good idea to buy your replacement needles from them. If they do not make your particular model anymore they may still have some old needles in stock. They may also tell you where else you can look if they are unable to supply a suitable match.

When you have located a supplier that has what you need it is advisable to buy more than one needle if possible. Every stylus will eventually wear out and if you have spares in stock it will save you searching again when you need a new one. If you do not fit a new stylus straight away it should be stored safely in a box to prevent any damage.
