Life keeps on changing forcing people to change their places of residence. Sometimes a condition may arise that require an individual to travel to another country to purchase goods, or manufacturing companies may want to export goods to foreign nations. These activities may require shipping household goods internationally which is done either by air or international seas.

As mentioned above, there are different reasons for the shipment of these goods. For instance, a person may wish to buy furniture or house appliances outside his country or manufacturers, and business individuals may want to sell their goods overseas. For whichever reason, it is necessary to know the different activities which are done during the process.

The first step that these companies do is picking up these merchandise. Picking up is done without considering the size of the item or the foreign destination. Large shipments are placed in containers of their own while the smaller ones are picked up in trucks then transported to the companys warehouse where they are consolidated into required groupage containers.

Packing and wrapping then follow. Proper packing of the goods is crucial because the shipment usually covers a very long distance. During packing, the delicate items are pre-wrapped using very fine materials. The wrapped items are then stored in cartons or wooden crates to prevent damage; this depends on how fragile the merchandise is, and how much the client is willing to pay for these services.

Next step is containerization. This involves placing the packed household items into containers. These companies usually carry out a home survey to establish the size of containers required. These merchandise are then loaded into containers after which they are sealed ready for shipment.

Before the journey begins, the client has to obtain the export documents. Freight companies usually assign some of their international moving specialists the duty of helping the clients to process the documents required for shipment so as to ensure safe and successful delivery of their merchandise especially for first-timers.

Ones the export documentation is received, the client advised by freight experts whether to take ocean freight or air freight. This process is called shipment plan. International ocean shipment is cheaper and safer than air shipments but its transit time is usually longer. Air transportation, on the other hand, is usually offered based on premium. Its main advantage is that it has the quickest transit time. Shipment through the ocean is preferred to air. After deciding on the freight company, the journey starts.

After deciding on the plan, the journey starts. After the shipment trip, the item are delivered to their foreign destination. In international shipping, this process is regarded as the most important. These companies have their agents stationed at different destinations to assist the customers with customs clearance and expeditious.

From the oversea destination the merchandise are transported to the house of the clients. A well organized freight company will send experts who will deliver the shipments to the clients home, unpack them and remove all the debris from the home compound leaving your place clean.
