In every store that you walk in today, cereals take up more space in almost every food shelves. They are attractive, and many children today would prefer having this puffed cereal as part of their breakfast. As much as they are essential to the child, parents should have some limitations as to how much of the foods that they consume. This article explains why you should create some boundaries with these cereals.

Most individuals prefer to buy the cereals because they are attractive to the eye. On the other hand, from a deeper look at things, nutritionists note that these foods have fewer nutrients in them. They are cheap, but the nutrients contained in them should discourage you from you buying them. Additionally, they contain synthetic nutrients, which can bring more toxic to our bodies.

When you were growing up eating these grains was not a big deal. However, a few inconsistencies came when you consume these foods. Once ingested, they never seemed to undergo proper digestion. Note that cereals are processed through extrusion. Manufacturers use little holes that spit out the grains into whichever shape you need the cereal to be. From this, you get the charms, flakes, and puffed grains.

During extrusion, the grains pass through extreme pressure and temperature that changes the sludge to become dry. However, the extreme conditions inside the sludge may cause depletion of the nutrients that the food may have. Therefore, it will not be a shock to notice less protein percentage in them. As many consumers may never notice, but they will coat the grains with sugar and oil so that they can introduce a level of crunchiness and attractiveness.

Be careful because most people develop insulin issues in their body. From a scientific view, the pancreas, which is in charge of producing insulin, becomes overwhelmed with the amount of sugar that these cereals bring into the body. Thus, in most cases, people develop problems that make you feel hungry as soon as you take some breakfast. In other cases, other people will feel tired and moody every morning.

As you all know, these grains contain phytates. Most of the time manufacturers do not put much concern into this matter though. The phytates are responsible for inhibiting the correct absorption of minerals in the body. Some of the minerals include copper, zinc, iron, magnesium, and calcium. On the other hand, manufacturers should ensure that they deplete all the phytates in the foods; alternatively, they would make sure that the substance is minimal in the grains.

Because a lot of cereal consumption can be harmful to our bodies, then it would be a good idea to try out new breakfast ideas. One of the alternatives would be porridge. Most disregard this food, but they contain unprocessed grains, which contain all the nutrients that your body needs.

If porridge is not worth it, include sprouted dehydrating grain cereals. As much as they are rare to find, they do not require a lot of expertise to prepare them. However, you need some time to understand how to do it. You will find them in different health stores and food aisles.
