The history of clothing is vast and long. The need came from being able to protect the body from the conditions of nature. Eventually it became a symbol of status around the world. The fashion industry has contributed much to the progress of the clothing over the years. But when it has first being started the native person had to do everything by hand. The making of clothes was a valuable assets in the olden days of yore.

Long ago, the ancient people sew together to pelts of different animals to provide some protection from the harshness of nature. The practice in turn became customary and having clothing meant that a ritual was going to happen for the tribes that lived within the uncivilized parts the world has. Eventually the interest of having clothing grew, leading to the creation of the button attaching machine.

Back in the middle ages, the nobles would spend high amounts of money on different fabrics that simply fascinated them. Any European who could afford a personal seamstress and tailors were seen as elite people due the value and skill tailors and seamstress tend to posses. But the occupation was mainly for women.

Being able to weave the fabrics back in those days determined as a very valuable skill. Especially embroidery. The patterns that would be placed on the materials was important and considered to be artistic. This art would eventually lead to the creation of the attaching machine, as embroidery included being able to create buttonholes to place the buttons on.

Decorative embroidery was high valued by many cultures across the world. The uses of buttons came for the art as buttonholing is part a skill set needed to be learned. The styles were different in the east and west and due to curiosity the early Europeans had, the silk road was discovered and so was the country of china that supplied the silk that was so highly valued.

A surprise came at the late 18th century. In the midst during the industrial revolution, the sewing machine was invented and introduced to the working people. Now back then this was a new invention and a machine to boot, so a working class family could not afford one and most seamstress suffered the lost of income as a result.

A revival came in the 19th and it came in the form known as the dandy trend. The popularity of high end clothes rose and the various tailors were know to be able to produce very good products that were hand made. The shops ran by then gained a huge following because of the quality and some are still operational to this day.

At the coming the 20th century has become. The sewing machine now became affordable in the homes of the working class. Because of this, the attaching machine was eventually made to help the production speed and so that they could be much faster in near future.

Because of these advancements a lot of people had a means to provide money for the families that were being supported by the income. Personal tailors once again became popular due to the need to get clothes adjusted because of the generic sizes provided by stores. Most of them now make suits and sewing is also still popular in Asia, where traditional garments are still hand made by men and women.
