When the average person goes shopping for hygiene products, it can be hard to tell which brand will live up to its claims. At the same time, it is common to see something that looks good and believes that it is only for decorative purposes. Things that are considered cosmetic often fall into this category but with modern products, looks are deceiving. This is what most people are discovering about artisan soap that is made by hand.

While some may look at bars on display and be in awe of the colors and designs, this is not functional artwork for the bathroom. All colors added are made from natural ingredients with pieces of fruit, herbs and plant moisturizers added for aromatic or moisturizing properties. The final product is something that not only looks pretty but does a pretty good job of cleaning and moisturizing the skin.

Anyone who loves fruity scents, florals, or a little of both will find most soaps of this kind to be soothing without being overpowering. While some strong scents may be pleasing for a moment, there are some disadvantages to wearing these chemicals throughout the day. Firstly, when combined with natural body scents, these artificial scents can be distracting to others. The other reason is that they can irritate skin and cause rashes.

Most people also associate certain scents with being clean, especially if it is strong or lingers hours after bathing. Even if these products are on the pricey side, this does not make them ideal for daily use. Anyone who has to follow their cleansing routine with a generous layer of lotion may find that their daily cleansing product is to blame.

When the skin is dry or sensitive, it has a hard time fighting off airborne radicals on its own. Many people have been conditioned to believe that harsh cleansers are the only arsenal needed but this often makes the problem worse. From alcohol based astringents to moisturizers that only clog pores, this makes the cleansing process more difficult.

Whereas people gave gift baskets containing body washes, creams, and lotions to encourage layering of scents, most people would rather do everything in one shot. Getting a good clean without dryness and a pleasant scent is usually enough to get the average person ready for the day. When skin starts off soft, there is usually little need to keep slathering on lotion throughout the day.

Because there are no additives, the shelf life of these cleansers is limited. However, just like the food most of us eat, anything that is enhanced with preservatives is not good to consume every day. The same theory applies to skincare and hair products.

Because this type of cleanser is so visually appealing, it makes a nice gift. There are many scents from which to choose and there are even some formulas that can minimize the appearance of acne scars and other imperfections. Some soap makers also have hair products and other accompaniments that are made from the same nutrient rich ingredients.
