Society used to be made up of hunter gatherers. It used to be that people moved from place to place in groups, foraging for food and other necessities. But then human society settled down, generally on the banks of rivers. With this settling came agriculture. These early settlements would later become the seeds from which the modern cities, with its steel and chrome skyscrapers, would flower and grow. But the human beings also grew, in size and in population. Each and every one of those people had bodies, bodies that had needs. They also had minds, minds which made them want things that they did not necessarily need. To meet those wants and those needs, people used to haul good from town to town via carts and caravans, then via train, and finally, via trucks. Of course, to operate a truck is one of many CDL jobs Salt Lake Utah City.

A CDL is a commercial drivers license. It means that the person holding it is fully qualified to drive not just a regular automobile, but a larger truck as well. Because trucks are larger than cars, they require special skills in order to operate, even if the principles are the same.

There certain qualifications one must meet in order to obtain a CDL. First, one must be old enough. The age required can vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, but generally falls between eighteen and twenty one. Next, a person must pass some tests and maybe even have their background checked.

There is only one site to get a license of any kind. That place is usually the Department of Motor Vehicles. Inside the DMV, people fill in forms and then wait in line to submit those forms in order to get various licenses.

Once an individual obtains a CDL, they are qualified for a number of jobs. Bus drivers require such a license. As do delivery van drivers. But the real meat of the industry is the long haul trucker, a person on the open road.

Driving is not glamorous work. It is often lonely, with only oneself and maybe another person for company. This is not the type of work that will make one rich. However, the pay is decent and the money is honest and it is good work with benefits.

Regular schedules are not something that a trucker is going to have. A bus driver will have a regular schedule. As will a deliveryman. But a trucker will be out on the job for long stretches of time.

There is also lingo. Most drivers will operate radios in the cab of the truck. Anyone in the business should learn to lingo.

People are always going to have needs. Everything that is alive is going to need things like food and water. Cities are not the best places to grow crops or raise livestock. As such, those goods will need to be moved.
