The purpose of schooling is to get a job at the end of the road. Some people school up to high school. There are those who reach college or university. It is important to understand that there is no end to learning. There is always room to learn more and expand the skill set. Irrespective of educational level, one will desire gainful employment. That will only be possible if one passes the interview administered by the employer. If there is pre employemnt drug testing, this will also need to be passed so that to enter the workforce.

The main purpose of testing employees for substances is so that to be able to create a drug-free workplace. As a matter of fact, that will be the best workplace. In such a workplace, there will be a high level of productivity. At the end of the day, what is desired the most from employees is productivity. That will increase the productivity level of the company.

In some countries, a substance test is mandatory before employment. It has to be done after the interview process. No one will be forced to undergo it. However, a person who forsakes the test should consider himself disqualified for the position in question. All American federal and local agencies have to test potential employees for the commonly abused substances.

Substance users are the worst people to have in the workforce. They are likely to fall ill or to be involved in accidents due to the substance use. That will cost the company additional medical costs. They can also fail to attend work due to a hangover or having a blackout. That will have a negative impact on the bottom line.

An employee who uses substances on a regular basis will have many negatives. First and foremost, he can fall ill easily or can be seriously injured in the process of abusing substances. That will make an organization to incur unnecessary medical costs. It is hard for a person who is high to work with people who are fully sober.

A number of substances are normally tested for. In most cases, alcohol is not tested for. That does not mean that alcoholics are tolerated in the workplace. Coming to work drunk or having signs of drunkenness will get one fired. Marijuana will have to be tested for. This is the most abused drug in America. There might also be cocaine testing.

There are different kinds of tests that can be used. The most affordable test is the urine test. This is the kind of test that is used by most companies. This will involve testing a urine sample. There is also the hair follicle test. This will require a patch of hair to be removed and subsequently tested for substances.

Substance addiction is a modern day epidemic. It has cost many lives. This problem is not only making families to lose breadwinners and children to be left orphaned. It is also affecting the bottom line of companies and the GDP of countries. Companies in the United States of America lose a lot of money every year because of having substance users in the payroll.
