Modular construction is a field that belongs to the construction industry. This field specializes to produce buildings in an environment where factory conditions are controlled. Although the whole production process takes place away from the site, the materials, designing, and construction standards employed in regular buildings are applied. For relocatable buildings (RB), the production involves use of module-oriented style and they are completely or partly assembled. The building complies with the state and federal codes and standards of construction. Usually, RBs made in a way that they can be reused and repurposed many times. They may also be relocated to varying building sites if the need arises. They are utilized for services like church buildings, medical clinics, schools, sales centers, and construction site offices.

Several benefits are attached to a relocatable building. First, relocation and delivery are very simple. They are also cheap to buy and one can have them reconfigured to any design they would like. They are very flexible and offer accelerated depreciation schedules. Installation is not done on permanent foundations. Installation should be done in compliance and strict adherence to guidelines that manufacturers provide. Local building codes should also be followed.

When considering structural integrity, prefabricated structures offer more strength compared to site-built construction. This is because each of the modules used is engineered independently to be able to withstand pressure placed on them during transportation and installation. After they have been installed together and sealed, they become a single integrated unit composed of one floor, roof, and wall. The independent testing and inspection protocols promote superior quality of construction at all stages of production.

This technique of construction comes with various benefits. First, the method improves greatly in terms of the quantity of time required to finish construction. It usually consumes less than 50 percent of the time required build a conventional building. With the current technology, methods of construction have improved so much hence better styles and designs.

Module-oriented construction removes over 80 percent of construction activity from the site to the factory. With this, traffic to the site is reduced and land disruption is minimized. This enhances how secure and safe the site is. In places where interference caused by construction activity is not required such as healthcare and academic facilities, prefab construction is the best option.
