People once considered modular/prefab homes as a low-quality and cheap housing option. Fortunately this situation has changed over the years thanks to technology. Today, people are being offered a second way of fulfilling their dream of owning a home through prefab homes. The modern designs have many benefits, features, and advantages which make preferable to conventional homes. Here are facts on prefab buildings

Such homes have improved quality which is the first advantage to the purchaser. In the past few years, the structures have improved significantly in terms of quality. One can make comparisons of the modern designs with conventional housing in all aspects in terms of quality. It is a fact that prefabs structures have a better quality in areas where conventional housing has low standards. These structures are made under intense quality control since the production is done on an assembly line in a factory setting.

The second advantage comes from speed of construction. Prefab structures can be constructed significantly faster than regular houses. Sources of delay in construction of regular houses do not exist in factories. For instance, when making a conventional house, suppliers of various materials must make the delivery on time. Secondly, the transportation process can be delayed by several different reasons. On top of all that, adverse weather usually causes major delays in construction of conventional houses.

Cost is the third associative advantage. Prefabs are quite affordable. Expenses required in construction of prefabs are fewer. In fact, it may cost fifteen percent less to get the same size of a modular home than a regular one. If the destination is located an area that is hard to access then the delivery cost of manufactured house may raise a little.

In prefab homes, financing options are more than regular houses. Mostly, prefab structures share same financing options with regular houses. Besides, through manufacturer, financing can be achieved, where one pays in installments in a given duration after the manufacturer has delivered the product. This is the least expensive option that one needs to go for even though the option is not offered always.

Although associated with many benefits, modular homes still have a negative perception in the eyes of the public. The negative public perception usually leads to low perceived value of the structure. With a low perceived value and negative perception, it can be a bit of a challenge to sell the home when one needs to. Usually it will take longer to find a buyer.

Lack of customization options in modular houses is the second associative disadvantage. Manufactured homes can be built according to various configurations. However, remodeling them becomes a challenge as it cannot be done with ease as in regular houses. In regular homes, a person can add designs like towers on master bedrooms and circular floor plans. However incorporating such designs in prefabs may not be possible to achieve or add.

Finally, making a prefabs home may be least expensive, however, the plot on which the home needs to be relocated and installed may cost a lot. As usual, one need to obtain the plot first before construction commences. When the two items are put together, it may cost high in most situations.
